ABOUT JACINTA

My name is Jacinta Drum BVisSc, GDipHumNutr, MTeach(P) and I am a nutritionist and teacher based in Shepparton, Victoria. I have recently completed a ‘Graduate Diploma of Human Nutrition’. I have a background in education and am passionate about empowering people to become their healthiest self. I aim to work holistically to optimise nutrition, mindset and lifestyle for sustainable health as there is never a “one size fits all” approach to eating. There is so much misinformation out there amongst our toxic diet culture and I aim to filter out the nonsense to give you evidence based research on nutrition. I am particularly passionate about debunking fad diets after seeing countless women jeopardise their health to lose weight. I will teach you to make the most informed decisions to reach your goals without compromising your health and wellbeing.

I am also passionate about women understanding their physiology and menstrual cycle. So many women go through life without learning about their individual cycle and are often put on hormonal contraception as a quick fix to problems that can be resolved nutritionally. My mission is to educate and empower women to understand their hormones so they can nourish their bodies and achieve their goals, whether it be body recomposition, managing PCOS, a healthy pregnancy or transitioning to menopause.

The preventative approach is a significant priority to me and my goal is to deter people from relying on conventional medicine. This will improve quality of life at the individual level but also collectively improve global health outcomes and medical expenditure. An area where prevention is lacking, is in the field of disordered eating. The largest risk factor for an eating disorder is dieting. Rising body image pressures through social media are driving a diet culture which in turn is increasing the prevalence of disordered eating. Early intervention has the potential to prevent the development of a life-long battle with an eating disorder. I believe that nutrition education and media literacy need to be a prominent part in the preventative approach to eating disorders.
